 The Drive for Life Golf Classic: 14 Years Helping to Drive Out ALS

The Drive for Life Golf Classic has brought together more than 1500 golfers, 400 volunteers and raised over $550,000 over the past 14 years. Initially, the tournament was in honour of Marcel Bertrand, a former President who worked tirelessly for the Society.  Marcel had ALS.  Following his passing in 2007, the tournament name was changed to acknowledge his memory.  

Over the past 14 years, the monies raised has been significant and would not have been possible without our generous sponsors.

The 2017 golf tournament was celebrated on Thursday, September 7 at Bel Acres Golf and Country Club. It was a windy but wonderful sunny day and everyone had lots of fun.  There were games, prizes, appetizers, a steak dinner, dessert and wine including our traditional signature cocktail the HOPE-tini. The award ceremony was framed with heartfelt speeches from Diana Rasmussen, Executive Director and Bruce Bertrand-Meadows, son in law of Marcel Bertrand.

This year we will retire the golf tournament and place the golf trophy in a place of prominence as it becomes part of the ALS Society of Manitoba history.

 13^th Annual Drive for Life Golf Classic

Another great tournament took place on September 8, 2016 at Bel Acres Golf and Country Club!  We are pleased to announce that the 13^th Annual Drive for Life Golf Classic raised over $60,000 for people living with ALS/MND in Manitoba in memory of Marcel Bertrand.

The tournament including a great sampling of food, drinks to spice up the day and many a contest to challenge everyone’s skills and luck. Greg Mackling, host of the Health Report and long time friend of the ALS Society of Manitoba was on hand to emcee the event and auction.
