Living with a Life -Limiting Illness: Access to Care and Related Experiences Survey

Caring for the Caregiver – Free In-Person Workshop
Join us at the United Church in Meadowood for “Caring for the Caregiver,” a special in-person workshop designed for caregivers and those who support them. This insightful event will explore important topics such as Caregiver Fatigue, What Caregivers Need, and Self-Care to help participants navigate the challenges of caregiving with greater resilience. We will learn how to take care of our mental health upon diagnosis, how to deal with our emotions like guilt and anxiety. And how to drive motivation and other activities that will provide happiness and enjoyment.

The ALS Canadian Alliance Patient/Caregiver Forum, held virtually via Zoom on March 21st, provided a platform for individuals affected by ALS to gather and share experiences. Paula Trefiak from Saskatchewan and Mike & Carmen Cels from Ontario delivered heartfelt testimonials, shedding light on their journey titled “Living my best life with ALS”. Dr. Andrew Eisen delved into various care options aimed at managing symptoms effectively. Moreover, attendees gained insights into the landscape of approved therapies for ALS through discussions led by experts such as Drs. Erik Pioro, Colleen O’Connell, and Theodore Mobach, covering topics including Riluzole, Edaravone Oral Suspension, Albrioza, and Tofersen. The forum concluded with an interactive Q & A session, fostering a sense of community and support among participants facing the challenges of ALS.
